My Journey

my journey

Many inquire about my journey into piano technology. From an early age, around eight, I found myself captivated by the meticulous work of a piano tuner. Enrolling in an online study course offered by the Piano Technician Academy was a pivotal step. Completing it in 2012 and revisiting it for a refresher in 2016, I found immense value in the program. However, my true growth blossomed after joining the Piano Technicians Guild in 2017. Engaging in monthly meetings and experiencing the National Convention enriched my skills. Notably, I received formal hands-on training from the North Bennet Street School in Boston, graduating from both the Basic and Advanced Piano Technology programs.

As highlighted on my website’s homepage, I proudly hold the title of Registered Piano Technician within the Piano Technicians Guild. But what does it entail? An RPT signifies a technician who has mastered the professional standards in tuning, repairing, and regulating pianos. Achieving this status demands rigorous exams where a minimum score of 80% is required.

Since witnessing the artistry of piano tuning in my youth, I have fostered a profound appreciation for the intricate workings of pianos and the harmony they produce. With approximately 9,500 parts in a modern grand piano, orchestrating their seamless interplay is no small feat. Yet, with dedication and a thirst for knowledge, the complexities of piano technology become navigable.
